Please reflect on this LEADERSHIP unit. We learnt about the different styles/types of leadership, MHC leadership, identified names of famous NZ leaders from the past and present, local, national and international leaders, leaders from wartime and our assessment task was the Methven needs a Mayor advertisement.
What was your opinion of this CCM topic combining English, DGT and Social Studies?

I liked learning about people and what they had accomplished during their lifetime and the mark they left on our history. I also liked the methven needs a mayor topic because it combined our DGT and social studies skills into one I also enjoyed learning how to make a logo. I also enjoyed learning about who is in charge at our school and the ranks of it.

Although I wish we could of learnt a bit more about the leaders like how they became a leader where were they born and raised just things about them before and after they were famous.

I think that the studying but of this topic was fun with the listing of the leaders at our school, our country and the world. And also learning about leaders of the past. I struggled with the Methven needs a mayor though.

I would've liked this topic more if we could of studied some of the leaders a bit more, e.g. choose one leader of the past or at the moment and make a presentation on how they became a leader, what they do, and what there role is in the world rather than make a Methven needs a mayor.

I really enjoined this topic because it help as with are BYOB. And i really enjoyed learning about are old leaders and are new leaders that i didn't know about. The thing i found the easiest was making the methven needs a mayor poster. the thing i found challenging was trying to name everyone thats a leader and come up with what they did to be a leader. but i really enjoined this topic because it was not to hard or it was not to easy to do it was awesome.

I learned lots about leaders and the struggles they have with leading Villages, city's and countries. The best part was when we had to think of as many different leaders. Learning about leaders will make you think about the challenges they have and go through. This was the best part of DGT and I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the activity where a slide played and everyone had to guess who the person shown was. I think you can improve this by not doing this as often for using different people every time you do it, otherwise it just becomes repetitive and boring doing it each day. That is the only flaw I've seen from my perspective, meaning that I have enjoyed everything. From the talk about local leaders to international heroes, this topic was indeed one that took my interest.

Jake you went into quite a bit of detail in one part of the whole social studies topic. Also there is not much detail about the rest of the subject

I liked this topic because I learnt a lot. The easy parts were the Leadership at MHC, Leaders in the community and Leaders of Past. Finding out what people went into which leadership categories was interesting because different people had different ideas on where they should go. It was also interesting to find out who was famous but not a leader. Some hard parts were the Methven Needs A Mayor because it was hard to put what you wanted to say into word/sentences that made sense. It was also hard to find or to make-up contacts without making them seem like there was already a Mayor or someone who was in charge already. Next time you could make sure the we get it all done in the one term and don't go into another term.

I have very much enjoyed this topic because it was very interesting to learn about many different leaders in New Zealand and around the world. I found that naming the New Zealand past and present leaders was easy. I also enjoyed learning about some world leaders that I had not heard about before or had heard about but did not know much about them. Learning about the war leaders and what they did was very interesting and I learnt many things such as what they did for their platoon or their country.I found the Methven needs a Mayor assessment a little bit difficult but enjoyable. What I found was difficult was the three skills that they had to have.

This social studies topic was interesting with learning about leaders and challenges. With what they had to overcome as a leader. I quite enjoyed this topic as I learned about some great leaders from the past and the present. Also what they did to become leaders. One of the hardest things I found was the quiz about the leaders then what they did. As I don't know that much about leaders. The one topic I really enjoyed was Methven Needs A Mayor. As I could be as creative as I wanted with a logo. Also with what makes the mayor a good mayor. I enjoyed this topic as it was mostly easy and kind of fun at the same time.

Who's in charge was a really good social studies topic and was fun to learn about. I really liked the Methven needs a Mayor assessment because it tied in all aspects of CCM like DGT, research and writing skills. The photos that we were to recognize was fun and all though I did not know all the people it was still great. Over all I am happy with this topic and I would do it again.

I like how at the start of the topic you got us to name the people, then at the end you did it again to see if we had improved. Also I liked how we had to name them into a leadership category. I liked how we had to list the leadership roles at MHC and Leaders in the community, and the leaders in the present and also the leaders from the past. I like how the topic always kept us busy. I really liked this term, I don't really have any negatives for this term.

I really enjoy this topic because you get to find out some famous leaders in the past and present. it was really fun when we had to say what rolls leaders take in MHC. The hardest part of this topic was finding out what the leader had lead or are leading. The next thing i enjoyed in the topic was Methven needs a mayor this was fun because we got to use our devises and i found out a lot of stuff.

My overall opinion is that the leadership topic was interesting to learn about. The school and community leadership tasks made me realise about how much the people and mayors have to do and be in charge for. The war contexts was very interesting and made me think about how many there were, even if they weren't very recognisable to everyone. The task of who's in charge was a fun way to end the topic by having to create and advertise certain jobs on a poster with the requirements, qualities and skills needed. I have learnt a lot of things throughout this topic that I didn't think I would be interested in, and that I didn't know much about.

I enjoyed the Leadership topic because I enjoyed learning about the types of leaders eg. Political and National. I also learnt about some leaders that I didn't know about. I really enjoyed listing the leaders at Mt Hutt College with the most important leaders at the top. I also enjoyed listing Local Leaders, National Leaders and International Leaders because I didn't know many International Leaders until then. I didn't know many leaders of the past either so I have really learnt a lot from this topic. There wasn't anything that I didn't find really boring in this topic. I think this topic can help children learn a lot about leaders and those who we should remember.

My reflection on this Recent leadership topic was that the topic was really good and I did not find one time when I was left with nothing to do. The main thing I liked about this topic was that we weren't just learning about modern day leaders but people from the past in wartime and people from the late 80s and 90s. I deferentially think that all year 8s should do this this topic.

The topic "Waste not, want not" was a fun topic because it was in full and great detail, but we also got to do some DGT skills in there to help us more. The "Our people their war II" topic was also quite enjoyable but still had some challenges to it like the giant booklet and posters that was kinda challenging. And now for the "Who's in charge" that was a real kick in the butt, with the quiz on the leaders but it was very interesting. But for my favorite part the "Careers" topic. That was my favorite part because I learnt so much about my chosen topic (Pathologist) e.g how much they make, how much it will cost to become one.

I really enjoyed this topic, the further I went into the topic the easier it became knowing what different types of leaders there are and what they have done. Probably my second favorite thing was figuring out what rolls people have played in our school to keep it running. Although, my favorite part was definitely being able to design my own mayoral application for Methven as it had really had shown me what I can do on a computer.

I enjoyed this topic because I learnt more about the leadership roles at Mt Hutt College and the their is lots of leaders in the school. I also enjoyed learning more about the famous leaders and what roles they had - like political or humanitarian. The Methven needs a mayor task was enjoyable because it makes you think about the qualities that are needed to be a good leader. Overall I think this task was really interesting.

I think this has been a very good unit that has incorporated all the CCM categories very well. The Methven needs a Mayor task was a very good task that could be similar to things that we may end up doing in our future careers and incorporated DGT [with the use of our devices to present it]. The writing and making sure all the mistakes are corrected is part of English, and doing it about the community we live in is Social Studies.

I really enjoyed this topic because I liked learning about what a Leader does and who in the world was a leader. The Methven needs a mayor was my favorite because I liked using the BYOD and Finding out what a mayor can do. It was a fun topic and I wish I could of done ore about the topic.

My most favorite part of leadership was the Methven needs a mayor. It was a lot more fun to use our devises to do this project. We also locked at leaders of the past like Sir Ed Hilary and Nelson Mandela. We also studied leaders of the community like Mr Schreurs and Donna Flavel. All of us looked at war leaders, Charles upum. There are four 4 types of leaders Political and National, Heads of Organisations, Event and Achievement. Humanitarian/ Social.

I did enjoy this topic with learning about the Quality's and key jobs and we used those to make a poster about our community by using Methven needs a mayor. We also learn't about the leaders of the past for example ( Charles Upham and Nancy Wake ) and many more. We did do a lot on close leaders to the Methven community and National and also International. What I would change would be to pick one leader and do a presentation on them.

My opinion is that I thought it was great. I feel that I learned a lot. There were a few challenges. Sometimes I struggled with being able to name some of the past leaders. It was nice to discover about the past leaders and what they have done to become a leader. I think that we could maybe have a few more Social Studies periods. I did enjoy doing the Methven needs a mayor because it involved DGT and Social Studies.

Our social studies topic who's in charge were we learn't about leaders from the past and present. I learnt a lot about New Zealand and there leaders. we also learnt about leaders from around the world, people like the queen and the royal family and the presidents of different countries. I liked how we made an advertisement on Methven needs a mayor where we had to put in leadership quality's, skills and key jobs.
